Today you revel in a day journey on Halong Bay: an UNESCO World Heritage Site and characteristic wonderland made out of bulging limestone islands and shining turquoise waters, placed in the Gulf of Tonkin. Drench yourself in the quietness and appeal of this tired riverside town. From the sixteenth to eighteenth hundreds of years Hoian was a flourishing global port frequented by Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab brokers, who came to exchange the superb silk still delivered in the locale.
